Museum of World Insects and Natural Wonders

Quirky three-floor insect museum in Nimman with thousands of butterflies, beetles and mosquito lore. Personal, fascinating, and an easy 60–90‑minute stop. Open 10am–3pm (closed Wed).

About

Tucked down Nimman’s Soi 13, this tiny private museum is a love letter to Thailand’s creepy-crawlies. Three compact floors pack in thousands of butterflies, beetles and delicate mantises, plus cabinets of fossils, shells and curious rocks. Hand-painted notes and poems give it a personal, slightly eccentric touch — the life’s work of a husband-and-wife team of entomologists who studied mosquitoes across Thailand for decades. It’s the kind of place you wander slowly. One room traces the story of mosquito-borne disease with field photos and detailed specimens; another dazzles with iridescent wings and giant stick insects. Expect a short, fascinating visit — 60 to 90 minutes is plenty — and go in the late morning to avoid the small afternoon rush. Practical bit: it’s on Siri Mangkalajarn Road (Nimmanhaemin Soi 13), about 10 minutes from the Old City by songthaew or Grab. Doors open 10am–3pm daily, closed Wednesday. If you’re exploring Nimman’s cafes and galleries, this makes a quirky, brain-tickling detour between coffee stops.
