Shitennoji Temple

Shitennoji Temple is a Buddhist temple located in the Shin Osaka area of Osaka, Japan. It was founded in 593 by Prince Shotoku, who played a major role in introducing Buddhism to Japan. The temple has a long and rich history, surviving fires, wars, and natural disasters over the centuries.

What to See

One of the main attractions of Shitennoji Temple is its five-story pagoda, which stands at 55 meters tall. Visitors can climb to the top for a stunning view of the surrounding area. The temple also has a beautiful Japanese garden, which is especially popular during cherry blossom season in the spring.

Inside the temple's main hall, visitors can see a statue of Prince Shotoku, as well as other important Buddhist figures. The temple also has a museum that displays artifacts related to its history.

Shitennoji Temple is located in the Shin Osaka area of Osaka. The closest station is Shitennoji-mae Yuhigaoka Station on the Tanimachi Subway Line. From there, it is a short walk to the temple.

Opening Hours and Admission

The temple is open from 8:30am to 4:30pm daily. Admission to the temple grounds is free, but there is a fee to enter the pagoda and museum.
