Shiroyama Observatory Guide

Shiroyama Observatory is a popular tourist destination located in the Kagoshima Prefecture of Japan. It is situated on top of Mount Shiroyama, which is approximately 107 meters above sea level. The observatory offers a panoramic view of the city of Kagoshima and the beautiful Kinko Bay.

Getting There

The observatory can be reached by taking the Kagoshima City View Bus from Kagoshima Station. The bus ride takes approximately 20 minutes and costs 200 yen.

Things to Do

Aside from enjoying the breathtaking view of Kagoshima and Kinko Bay, visitors can also explore the surrounding park area. There are several walking trails that lead to other scenic spots, such as the Shiroyama Park Observatory and the Kagoshima Prefectural Museum of Culture.

History

Shiroyama Observatory was established in 1967 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Meiji Restoration. The observatory was built as a symbol of the restoration and the progress that Japan had made since then.
