Aquino Center and Museum

The Aquino Center and Museum is a tribute to the life and legacy of Senator Benigno S. Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon C. Aquino. It is located in the province of Tarlac, Philippines, approximately at latitude 15.4833° N and longitude 120.5833° E.

History

The Aquino Center and Museum was inaugurated on August 21, 2008, on the 25th death anniversary of Senator Benigno S. Aquino Jr. The center was established by the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation, which aims to continue the legacy of the Aquino family by promoting democracy, peace, and development in the Philippines.

Exhibits

The museum features interactive exhibits that showcase the life and achievements of Senator Benigno S. Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon C. Aquino. Visitors can learn about their struggles during the Martial Law period, the People Power Revolution, and their contributions to Philippine democracy.

One of the highlights of the museum is the replica of the prison cell where Senator Benigno S. Aquino Jr. was detained for seven years. Visitors can enter the cell and experience the conditions that he endured during his imprisonment.

Facilities

The Aquino Center and Museum has a conference room, a library, and a souvenir shop. The conference room can accommodate up to 200 people and is equipped with audio-visual facilities. The library contains books and materials related to the Aquino family and Philippine history.

The souvenir shop sells items such as t-shirts, mugs, and keychains that feature the images of Senator Benigno S. Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon C. Aquino. Proceeds from the sales of these items go to the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation.

Visiting Hours and Fees

The Aquino Center and Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The museum is closed on Mondays and on holidays. Admission fees are as follows:

  • Adults - PHP 100
  • Students and Senior Citizens - PHP 80
  • Children (6 years old and below) - Free

Guided tours are available for groups of 10 or more. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance.

Getting There

The Aquino Center and Museum is located in Barangay San Miguel, Tarlac City. It is approximately 165 kilometers north of Manila. Visitors can take a bus or a private vehicle to get to the museum. The travel time is around 3 hours.
