Zoe in Yellow is the Old City’s default party yard — an open‑air cluster just a few lanes off Ratchadamnoen, with free entry (last checked March 2026). Different corners pump hip‑hop, house, and singalong anthems, and the shared courtyard packs tight with bucket-toting backpackers, English teachers, and Thai students by late evening.
When Chiang Mai’s bar curfew kicks in, things wind down around midnight and the crowd peels off to after‑hours clubs. Come earlier if you want a table; come later if you want sweat-on-the-ceiling energy. Expect cheap beers, plastic buckets, and zero pretense — the city’s easiest place to make new friends before the next stop.
