Wong Amat Beach

Quieter slice of Pattaya with soft sand, gentle surf, and sunset views to Koh Larn. Slip in via Naklua Soi 12/16, grab a lounger, and graze on som tam and grilled seafood. Best in the morning or at golden hour, far from the jetski buzz of central Pattaya.

About

North of Pattaya’s main bay, Wong Amat Beach is where locals go when they want sand without the circus. It curves along Na Kluea’s condo-lined shoreline, between Dusit Thani and the headland crowned by the Sanctuary of Truth. The water is usually gentler here, the crowd a mix of Thai families, long-stayers, and weekend escapees who prefer a quieter swim and a front-row sunset over Koh Larn. Access is easy via Naklua Soi 12, 16, and nearby lanes; you’ll spot rows of umbrellas, loungers, and simple beach shacks doing cold coconuts, som tam, and grilled seafood at fair prices. Come in the morning for glassy water and soft light, or aim for golden hour when the beach fills with couples and kids building sand castles. There’s far less jetski noise than on Pattaya Beach, so you can actually hear the shore break and the chatter from beachfront restaurants like Surf & Turf by the Sea. If you’re staying in North Pattaya, it’s a five-minute ride from Terminal 21 by songthaew or motorbike taxi. Daybeds rent by the session, and vendors wander with fresh fruit and ice cream. The northern end gets rocky near the headland; walk south for broader sandy stretches. It’s not a postcard-unspoiled beach, but it’s reliably cleaner and calmer than central Pattaya, and that’s exactly why regulars keep coming back.
