Wat Sri Thanu

Small, serene Sri Thanu temple with a white-walled ordination hall and shady grounds. Free to wander — dress modestly, slip off your shoes, and pair it with a Zen Beach sunset.

About

A small, peaceful neighborhood temple in Sri Thanu, this wat is the quiet counterpoint to the island’s beach days. Tucked just inland from Zen Beach, the grounds are shaded by coconut palms and the main hall stands crisp and white with red-and-gold trim — classic southern Thai style that photographs beautifully in late-afternoon light. You’ll often see locals stopping by with incense and flowers; step quietly and you’ll feel why this spot anchors the village. Swing past on your scooter loop between Hin Kong and Chao Phao, park outside, and slip off your shoes before entering any building. Dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered) and keep voices low — it’s an active place of worship. Time your visit for golden hour, then roll down to the beach for sunset. Entry is free; donations are welcome if you’d like to support upkeep.
