Wat Kitti Sangkharam
About
Wat Kitti Sangkharam (Wat Kata) is Kata’s local temple, a quiet detour from the sand. Expect bright red-and-gold gables, naga-flanked steps, and a polished courtyard where the ordination hall glows in late-afternoon light. It’s smaller and calmer than Wat Chalong, with more cats than tour groups and a genuine neighborhood feel.
Visit in daylight; free entry and donations appreciated. Dress modestly and slip off your shoes before entering the ubosot. A solid 20-minute cultural reset between beach sessions, and a respectful look at everyday Phuket life—shopkeepers, school kids, and monks moving through their routines.
