Wat Khosit Wihan
Serene local temple off Thep Krasattri Rd by Monkey Hill — quiet courtyards, a short staircase to a gold-trimmed viharn, and everyday Phuket life. Open 8am–6pm; pair with Monkey Hill or Phuket Old Town.
About
A quiet, working temple just north of Phuket Old Town, Wat Khosit Wihan sits up a short staircase off Thep Krasattri Road, right by Monkey Hill (Khao To Sae). Slip through the unassuming street-side gate and you’re in a calm compound of shaded courtyards, gold-trimmed halls, and the soft clink of prayer bells. It’s the kind of spot locals pop into on the way to the market, while travelers rarely notice it from the road.
Climb the steps to the main viharn and you’ll find gleaming Buddha images, bright murals, and the scent of incense hanging in the heat. Midday cicadas provide the soundtrack; mornings are cooler and you may catch the monks sweeping leaves or chanting. Dress modestly, remove your shoes at the thresholds, and bring small notes or coins if you wish to make a donation.
Practically speaking, it’s an easy add-on to a Phuket Town wander — a short ride from Thalang/Yaowarat intersection — and a good pairing with Monkey Hill or Khao Rang Viewpoint nearby. Gates are typically open from 8am to 6pm. If you’re visiting in the afternoon, the light on the gilded trim makes the photos pop even on a simple phone camera.
