Wat Hua Hin

Hua Hin’s main temple (Wat Ampharam) by the clock tower, steps from Soi 72 Night Market. Quiet courtyards, a serene Buddha hall, free entry. Dress modestly; shoes off inside. Lovely at sunrise or early evening.

About

Right in the heart of town by Hua Hin’s clock tower and a stroll from Soi 72’s Night Market, Wat Hua Hin (also known as Wat Ampharam) is the city’s main working temple. Step off the busy street and the noise drops: incense hangs in the air, bells clink softly, and locals slip in to light candles and make merit between errands. The temple grounds are compact and calm, with a bright red-and-gold ordination hall and a serene main Buddha image inside. Courtyards are shaded and tidy, a welcome pause on a hot afternoon, and you’ll often spot orange-robed monks moving quietly between buildings. It’s an easy cultural stop to pair with the railway station or a market wander. Drop by respectfully—shoulders and knees covered, shoes off before entering halls. Entry is free, with discreet donation boxes if you wish to contribute. Come early morning for cool, reflective quiet, or around dusk when the nearby market hums to life and the temple glows under warm lights.
