วัดศรีไตรภูมิ
Yasothon’s central temple (Wat Klang) on Si Sunthon Rd. Pay respects to Luang Pho Yai Sri Mueang and Phra Sangkajjai; in May the Bun Bang Fai festivities kick off with dance offerings here. Quiet mornings, golden late afternoons. Free entry.
About
Wat Si Traiphum is Yasothon’s true “Wat Klang” — the central town temple locals pass daily on Si Sunthon Road. Step through the gate and you’re in classic Isaan temple life: old shade trees, the drum tower thumping on holy days, and an ordination hall with carved gables and the soft smell of incense drifting out to the courtyard.
The temple is home to revered images — Luang Pho Yai Sri Mueang, Phra Sangkajjai, and Phra Upagupta — that residents visit to make merit, especially ahead of exam season or a new venture. In the weeks around Yasothon’s Bun Bang Fai (rocket festival, usually May), dance troupes and donation trays gather here for offerings, and processions spill past the front gate on festival weekend.
Come early for quiet — 7–9am is perfect for a calm circuit of the grounds — or late afternoon when the light turns the ubosot gold. Entry is free; modest dress is expected. Bring small bills (20–100 THB) for candles and donations, and take a slow wander through the surrounding old-town streets after your visit.
