Tonsai Restaurant
Dinner-only Thai favorite on Klong Prao’s main road (opposite Ka-Ti Culinary). Order the pomelo salad, pandan-wrapped chicken, and roasted duck curry; pair with a proper cocktail. A relaxed crowd of island regulars and resort guests fills it most evenings.
About
Dinner-only Thai cooking that locals actually crave. Tonsai sits on the Klong Prao main road, opposite Ka-Ti Culinary and a short stroll from Centara Tropicana’s entrance. After sunset the open-air sala hums: woks hiss, lime and lemongrass hang in the air, and plates move fast from kitchen to table.
Regulars come for bright, balanced flavors rather than gimmicks. Start with the pomelo salad — juicy segments tossed with toasted coconut and herbs — then the chicken wrapped in pandan leaves for that soft, fragrant hit. The roasted duck curry is the move if you want something richer, with just enough heat to keep you chasing the last spoonful of curry over rice. Portions are spot-on for sharing, and there’s a small bar knocking out solid cocktails to go with it.
It’s an easy dinner stop if you’re staying around Klong Prao: come around 6:30–7:30pm and expect a friendly, mixed crowd of island regulars and resort guests. Service is quick but never rushed. If you like it Thai-spicy, just say so. Call ahead if you’re a bigger group: +66 89 895 7229.
