Bangkok’s late-night street-food fix: moo ping skewers, pad thai off the wok, boat noodles, and 40–60 THB fruit shakes. Open till around 1am—perfect for a cheap refuel after Khao San.
About
Bangkok’s “talad to-rung” is the kind of late-night food market that keeps this city running after dark. Stalls fire up around early evening and don’t quit until after midnight. Follow the smoke and sizzling woks and you’ll find skewers of moo ping brushed with sweet marinade, pad thai tossed hard and fast over flame, bowls of boat noodles and tom yum, and mango sticky rice packed to go. Expect plastic stools, quick service, and that addictive street-grill aroma that clings (in a good way) to your T‑shirt.
Come hungry and bring small bills. Most plates run 60–100 THB, noodles 50–80 THB, moo ping 10–20 THB a stick, fruit shakes 40–60 THB. The busiest window is 7pm–11:30pm when office workers, students, and bar staff all refuel. If you’re staying around Khao San, this is the move for a cheap, satisfying dinner or a post-bar second wind. Aim for the pad kra pao with crispy pork, a made-to-order omelette over rice, or a late bowl of yen ta fo if you like it punchy and pink.
It’s casual, it’s lively, and it’s very Bangkok: cooks shouting orders, ice clinking in big plastic cups, and a steady rhythm of gas burners hissing. Grab a seat, stake out a chili-vinegar-caddy, and eat like a local. Cash only, and go early if you want the popular mango sticky rice before it sells out.
