Cafes $$$ Open
The Mustang Blu
Cinematic deep‑blue bank turned cafe‑hotel near Chinatown—iron spiral staircase, taxidermy giraffe, serious coffee and photogenic cakes. Open 11am–9pm (till 9:30pm weekends). Go on a weekday to skip the IG crowds.
About
Step off Maitri Chit Road and into a century-old bank washed in deep midnight blue. The ground-floor cafe feels cinematic: an iron spiral staircase curling up through the atrium, antique lamps glowing against weathered plaster, and a towering taxidermy giraffe watching over the room. It’s moody in the best way—equal parts Chinatown grit and old-world romance—and yes, everyone takes photos.
Order a strong coffee or tea and linger over cakes that actually taste as good as they look, plus a small menu of pastas and easy mains. Drinks lean rich and aromatic; the sweets are the reason regulars “just pop in for one slice” and leave an hour later. Prices run higher than the neighborhood shophouses, but you’re paying for atmosphere too.
Location-wise, you’re on the edge of Chinatown, a short walk from Soi Nana’s cocktail bars like Ba Hao. It’s an easy late-afternoon escape before sliding into a night around Yaowarat. Weekends draw a photo-happy crowd—come on a weekday or right at 11am if you want the staircase to yourself. Hours last checked April 2026.
Upstairs is a 10-room boutique hotel layered with books, antiques, and more curios—worth a look if you like your stays with personality. Whether you’re here for a slice and a shot or planning a full stay, the mood is the point, and Mustang Blu has it in spades.
