The Big Buddha, Phuket

Phuket’s Big Buddha towers 45m above Nakkerd Hill between Kata and Chalong, clad in white marble you can spot from the beach. It’s a 20-minute ride from Kata; follow Chao Fa West Rd and turn up Soi Yot Sane 1. Free entry, donations welcome, and sarongs are provided. Go early or for sunset (ICT) to dodge the heat and tour buses. Up top you get 360-degree views over Chalong Bay, Kata and Karon, with bell chimes and occasional chanting setting a calm mood. Dress modestly and keep voices low. The road is steep and winding—confident riders only; otherwise book a taxi or Grab.
