Sun Suwan 360° View & Sky Bar
Hilltop deck with true 360° views over Chalok Baan Kao and Shark Bay, a lookout tower, and a chill bar for coconuts and sundowners. Open daily till 8pm; expect a small ฿50 entry (usually incl. water). Easiest access via the Freedom Beach/John‑Suwan road — go for sunset.
About
Climb a short set of steps and you pop onto a wooden deck that hangs over the south of Koh Tao. Sun Suwan 360° View & Sky Bar looks across two sides of the island at once — Chalok Baan Kao and Freedom Beach to one side, Shark Bay, Sai Daeng and Shark Island to the other. There’s a metal lookout tower for the full 360, cushioned platforms and netted seating for those long sunset sits, and a tiny hilltop bar pouring ice-cold coconuts, soft drinks and simple cocktails.
It’s a low-key, come-for-the-view kind of place, best from late afternoon into sunset when the light paints the bays gold. Expect a small entry fee (around 50 THB, usually with a bottle of water included) and friendly staff who keep the vibe mellow. Hours run roughly 9:30am–8pm daily, so sunrise is possible if you’re keen, but sunset is the crowd-pleaser.
Getting there is easy: ride south toward Freedom Beach/John-Suwan Viewpoint and look for the Sun Suwan signs before the final junction. Park up and follow the path a few minutes uphill. From Mae Haad pier it’s about a 10–15 minute drive by scooter or taxi. Bring a camera, decent shoes, and time to linger — the view does the rest.
