See the sunset

The sunset viewpoint near Walking Street draws a nightly crowd to watch the Andaman sun drop below the horizon. The best views are from the rocky headland at the island's western tip. No charge, no tickets — just show up around 6pm and find a rock to sit on. The colors are reliably spectacular from November through April when the skies are clear. Bring a drink from a nearby bar. Some evenings a vendor sells coconut shakes on the path up. Stay for the afterglow — the sky keeps changing for 20 minutes after the sun disappears.
