About
By day, Railay East Walking Alley is a quiet boardwalk skirting the mangroves, longtail boats nudging the pier and limestone walls towering overhead. Come evening, the strip wakes up: reggae drifting from open-front bars, fairy lights in the palms, and chalkboard menus promising cold beers and easygoing cocktails.
This is the original nightlife pocket on the east side of the peninsula, running along the shore a few steps north and south of East Railay Pier. Expect low-key bars like Joy Beach Bar, Gecko Bar, Mojito Bar and Why Not Bar, plus casual Thai kitchens and tour desks. Thereās no real swimming beach on this sideāmangroves and a rocky waterfront make it more of a promenadeābut itās perfect for a sunset stroll before you settle in for live tunes or a game of pool.
Crowds skew backpacker and climber, with a laid-back pace thatās miles from Ao Nangās party thrum. Prices tend to be a touch higher than on the mainland, but youāre paying for the setting: lantern-lit walkways, cliffs glowing gold at dusk, and that soft sea breeze that keeps you sitting for ājust one more.ā
