Railay Beach Statue

Railay’s easy meet‑up spot: a bronze mermaid blowing a conch at the top of Railay West’s walking street. Free, photogenic, and perfect at sunset with long‑tails and limestone cliffs in the background.

About

Walk off the sand at Railay West and you’ll spot her right away — a bronze mermaid poised at the top of the walking street, conch raised to her lips, staring out to the Andaman. She’s become Railay’s unofficial meeting point: a quick photo stop as boats idle on the shore and climbers shuffle past with chalky hands. Use the statue as your compass. It sits at the west end of the path that cuts across the peninsula toward East Railay, a strip lined with beach stalls, low‑key bars, and dive and climbing shops. From the long‑tail drop‑off on Railay West it’s a 2‑minute stroll; from here, East Railay and the mangroves are a 10‑minute walk the other way. It’s free, it’s outdoors, and you’ll pass it more than once while exploring. Come at golden hour when the cliffs burn orange and long‑tails drift through the frame — the mermaid makes a perfect foreground for sunset shots. Mornings are quieter if you want it to yourself; by midday day‑trippers from Ao Nang crowd the lane. Grab a coconut or a cold beer from the nearby stalls, then wander down to Phra Nang Cave Beach to connect the dots with Railay’s sea‑legends. Last checked March 2026.
