One Chun Cafe & Restaurant

Phuket Old Town’s Bib Gourmand favorite for true Southern Thai: crab meat yellow curry with kanom jeen and Phuket-style moo hong pork belly, all in a vintage shophouse. Expect a queue at peak hours—but it moves fast.

About

A Phuket Old Town staple with a long-running Michelin Bib Gourmand, One Chun serves Southern Thai the way locals like it. Set inside a weathered Sino‑Colonial shophouse on Thep Krasattri Road, the room is packed with enamel tiffins, old radios and family portraits, ceiling fans spinning while plates fly out of the kitchen. At peak hours you’ll take a queue number at the door, but the turnover is quick and the wait pays off. The kitchen leans hard into southern flavors—salty, sour, spicy—with produce pulled from around the island. Order the fresh crab meat yellow curry with coconut milk, served with rice vermicelli (kanom jeen); it’s the dish regulars plan trips around (around 370 THB, ~$10). Balance the heat with moo hong, Phuket’s slow‑braised pork belly, sweet‑salty and peppery (from 265 THB, ~$7). Depending on the day, you’ll also see gaeng som sour curry, turmeric‑fried fish and stink bean (sataw) stir‑fries. If you’re spice‑shy, ask them to ease it back—they’ll keep it honest. Open daily from 10am (Tuesday until 9pm). It’s an easy lunch stop between Old Town’s street art and shophouses, and dinner from 6pm–8pm draws the longest lines. Figure 200–400 THB per person for a generous meal. Find it at 48/1 Thep Krasattri Road in Phuket Old Town; call +66 76 355 909 for groups. Last verified March 2026.
