When Khao San starts to roar, slip into Oasis Restaurant for a breather. It’s the kind of leafy, fan‑cooled terrace you crave after a day of temples and tuk‑tuks — wooden tables under string lights, a mellow playlist, and just enough buzz to feel social without shouting over it. The menu runs the Bangkok backpacker greatest hits with care. Think green curry and pad krapao topped with a runny fried egg, tom yum with a proper citrus kick, and plenty of vegetarian swaps on request. There’s the comfort side too — big breakfasts, omelets, fried rice, club sandwiches, mango sticky rice and fresh fruit shakes when you need something cold and sweet. Prices stay friendly for the area: most mains land around 90–160 THB, with a large Chang or Singha from about 90 THB. Come by in the late morning for shade and an iced coffee, or drift in after sunset when the fairy lights click on and the street noise fades to a hum. Service is easygoing and unhurried, the sort of place you linger with a second drink before heading back to Khao San’s chaos or down to Phra Athit for a quieter nightcap.
