Number 1 Gallery

Intimate Silom gallery championing Thai contemporary art. Rotating shows (think Vasan Sitthiket, Sutee Kunavichayanont), free entry, and a quiet coffee corner. Open Tue–Sun 10am–7pm, a short walk from Surasak BTS.

About

Tucked down Silom Soi 21, Number 1 Gallery is one of Bangkok’s sharper eyes for contemporary Thai art. Expect tightly curated, rotating exhibitions that swing from politically charged works by names like Vasan Sitthiket and Sutee Kunavichayanont to fresh voices pushing new materials and ideas. It’s an intimate white-cube space where the art gets room to breathe, not a selfie factory. Drop in mid-afternoon, grab a quiet coffee at the small counter, and take your time with the details—paintings, sculpture, and mixed media that reward a slow look. Staff are welcoming and happy to talk you through what’s on the walls without the hard sell. Entry is free, and shows turn over regularly, so there’s nearly always something new on. Practicalities: the gallery sits on Soi Silom 21 in Bang Rak, an easy walk from Surasak BTS. Doors are open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am–7pm (closed Monday). It’s a solid pre-dinner stop before you head for noodles on Pan Road or cocktails along Charoen Krung.
