Night Market

Khao San’s nightly bazaar: street eats, bargain tees, roti and pomegranate juice, plus beer towers and cocktail buckets. Stalls ramp up from late afternoon; prime time is 8pm–1am, especially Fri–Sat. Shop, snack, haggle, then slip to Rambuttri for a calmer lap.

About

By sunset, Khao San Road flips from lazy day mode to a full-blown night market. Neon signs blink on, woks hiss, and the curb fills with folding tables piled high with elephant pants, band tees, beadwork, and the odd magic trick. Food carts sling pad thai, satay, mango sticky rice, banana roti, and fresh pomegranate juice while bar reps tempt you with beer towers and cocktail buckets. It’s chaotic in the best way—loud, colorful, and unapologetically Khao San. Most stalls start rolling out late afternoon, but the street really hits stride after 8pm. Weeknights are busy; Friday and Saturday pack out. Expect a mix of backpackers fresh off the night bus, Thai students on a cheap-eats run, and long-timers who know which roti cart is worth the line. If you need a breather, duck down to Soi Rambuttri for the same market energy with a softer soundtrack and more trees. Come hungry and bring small bills. Prices are negotiable for clothes and souvenirs—smile, bargain, and don’t sweat walking away. Street-side foot massages line the curb, tattoo studios glow late, and every few steps another busker or live band cranks the volume. It’s touristy, sure, but if you want Bangkok’s carnival side, this is the nightly show right on Khao San Road, a short walk from Phra Arthit Pier.
