Mangrove

About

The mangrove area on Railay's east side, visible at low tide when the mudflats extend out and the root systems are fully exposed. It's not a manicured boardwalk attraction — this is raw tidal mangrove forest where you can see crabs, mudskippers, and small fish working the shallows. Best explored during the couple of hours around low tide. Kayaking through the mangroves is the most popular way to experience them, with rentals available from several spots along East Railay beach (around 200-300 baht per hour). The ecosystem is surprisingly rich for such a small area. Early morning is ideal — fewer people, more wildlife activity, cooler temperatures.
