Lamai Plaza

After dark, Lamai Plaza flips into a casual night market: T‑shirts, Muay Thai shorts and carved soaps alongside pad thai, grilled seafood, banana rotis and cheap beers. Starts around 5pm; busiest 7–9pm. Sundays are livelier. Cash is king, right on Had Lamai Road.

About

In the heart of Lamai, just off Had Lamai Road, Lamai Plaza turns lively after sunset. Stalls roll out under strings of lights and the air fills with the sizzle of grills and the thump of som tam being pounded to order. It’s the easy place to browse for the usual beach-town kit — T‑shirts, Muay Thai shorts, carved soaps, coconut bowls, flip‑flops and the inevitable copy watches and knives — with vendors who keep things friendly if you bargain with a smile. Come hungry. A short food lane pops up with skewers and grilled seafood, pad thai from a hot wok, mango sticky rice, banana rotis, fresh coconuts and cheap beers. Pull up a plastic stool, people‑watch, and plot the rest of your Lamai night — bars and live music are a few minutes’ walk in any direction. Most evenings kick off around 5pm, with the busiest window roughly 7–9pm. Sundays tend to be livelier as the walking street spills through the center. Bring cash (ATMs line the main road) and expect a smaller scene midweek. Easy to find: 124/524 Had Lamai Rd, Maret, Koh Samui (right in Lamai’s center). Last checked March 2026.
