Lagoon

About

The Railay Lagoon sits in the jungle interior of the peninsula, reached via a steep and muddy trail from the eastern viewpoint path. The hike takes about 30-45 minutes and involves ropes, slippery rocks, and proper scrambling — wear shoes with grip, not flip-flops. The lagoon itself is a collapsed cave system surrounded by vertical limestone walls. Water levels vary by season. During the wet months it fills up enough to swim in; in dry season it can be shallow and murky. The real payoff is the setting — cathedral-like limestone walls closing in overhead with jungle spilling down the sides. Bring water and watch your footing on the descent.
