Krabi Urban Forest

Shaded mangrove boardwalk on Krabi’s riverfront with a climbable watchtower and views of Khao Khanab Nam. Free, quiet, and an easy walk from the Mud Crab statues—go late afternoon for cooler air and golden light.

About

Slip off Krabi Town’s riverfront and onto a quiet wooden boardwalk that winds through a thick mangrove canopy. Krabi Urban Forest is a simple, soft‑spoken escape: the crunch of leaves underfoot, tiny crabs skittering in the mud at low tide, and dappled shade the whole way. It’s free, easy to reach, and a very local way to reset between island days and night markets. Follow the path to the wooden watchtower and climb for a sweeping look over the Krabi River and the twin limestone peaks of Khao Khanab Nam. Regulars come late afternoon when the heat backs off and the light goes gold; sunset from the top is quietly spectacular on a clear day. Pair it with a stroll past the Mud Crab sculptures and Chao Fah Park, or grab a cold drink on Khongkha Road afterwards. Practical notes: the walkway sits in Pak Nam, along the north end of the river promenade, a short walk from central Krabi Town. Surfaces can be slick after rain, so take it slow on the steps and rails. There’s no ticket booth and no fuss—just a peaceful slice of mangrove right in town.
