Kohinoor Indian Restaurant & Pizza
Railay’s Indian comfort hit on Walking Street: butter chicken, chicken jalfrezi, jeera rice and garlic‑cheese naan, plus pizzas from the hot oven. Generous portions, veg/vegan friendly, and open daily till 11:30pm.
About
Railay’s go-to when you’ve had your fill of pad kra pao and want something rich, spiced and comforting. Kohinoor sits right on Railay Walking Street, a casual open‑air spot where you can smell garlic, cumin and char from the tandoor before you see the sign. It’s the place climbers and beach people converge after sunset for proper North Indian plates and a few slices of pizza from the same hot oven.
Regulars swear by the butter chicken—creamy, tomato‑bright and not shy on fenugreek—and the chicken jalfrezi if you want a little kick. Order jeera rice soaks up the sauce, and add a garlic and cheese naan for the table; it’s the move. Portions are generous and there’s a full spread of vegetarian and vegan dishes, so everyone’s covered. Expect mains from around 250 THB (~$7), fair value for Railay.
If you’re staying near the East pier or wandering between the beaches, you’ll find Kohinoor in the middle of the strip, easy to spot and easy to like. Come for a late lunch or go post‑climb when the grills are humming—service is quick even when it’s busy. Open daily 11am–11:30pm (last checked March 2026).
