Klong Khong Beach
Sunset-central on Koh Lanta’s west coast: a mellow, sandy bay lined with bamboo bars, beanbags and the occasional fire show. Swim at mid/high tide, explore rock pools at low tide, and roll in from Saladan in 10–15 minutes along the 4245 coastal road.
About
Klong Khong is the laid-back middle stretch of Koh Lanta’s west coast — a long, sandy bay dotted with rustic beach bars, bamboo bungalows and mellow reggae beats at sunset. By day, the vibe is unhurried: hammocks in the shade, longtail boats gliding past, and tide pools revealing coral and rock when the water drops. Swimming is best at mid to high tide; at low tide you get shallow water and craggy patches perfect for a barefoot wander and a few photos.
Come late afternoon, lanterns and fairy lights flick on and beanbags start filling up along the sand. Expect easygoing beach bars, bonfires and the occasional fire show a few nights a week — more chilled than party-hard, and all the better for it. Sunsets here stretch wide open; grab a spot facing due west and watch the Andaman turn gold, then pink.
Practically, it’s a 10–15 minute ride south from Saladan Pier along the 4245 coastal road, roughly between Long Beach (Phra Ae) and Klong Nin. You’ll find turn-offs down sandy lanes to park right on the beach. It’s a good base for island days: affordable stays on the main road, casual Thai-and-seafood menus on the sand, and an easygoing crowd of long-stayers, families and anyone who prefers chill over chaos.
