Jeh O Chula

Bangkok’s cult “midnight tom yum Mama” — creamy, spicy instant noodles loaded with prawns, squid, soft egg and crackly crispy pork. Queues nightly, late-night service for the noodles (from ~11pm). Student vibe near Chula; bowls from ~220–320 THB.

About

Bangkok’s most famous “midnight noodles” spot sits just off Banthat Thong Road near Chulalongkorn University. By 9pm the queue spills onto the pavement — students, chefs after shift, and curious travelers all waiting for the same thing: a bubbling pot of Mama instant noodles in rich, spicy tom yum. Jeh O earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for it, and the hype is real. Regulars time their visit. Doors open from late afternoon, but the signature tom yum Mama shows up around 11pm (last verified Apr 2026). Order it loaded with prawns and squid, soft egg yolks, and a slab of their crackly house-made crispy pork. Go solo with a bowl (~220–320 THB) or share a bigger pot if you’ve got friends — the kitchen piles it high and the broth runs creamy and bright with lime and chili. If the line is long, start with plates: the crispy pork with spicy dip is a must, and the salmon spicy salad wakes you right up. There’s also old-school Teochew-style braised duck on the menu, a nod to the shop’s roots. It’s a simple, fluorescent-lit shophouse with fast-moving staff and plastic stools, but that’s the charm — nothing gets between you and the soup. Practical bit: it’s a short taxi from Siam/National Stadium. Expect a wait at peak hours; late night moves faster. Come hungry, bring friends, and don’t let the noodles sit — they’re best the minute they hit the table.
