The crowd is a mix: Bangkok families on weekends, couples on date night, and travelers chasing sunset along the boardwalk. If you want a calmer lap, go on a weekday late afternoon, then linger for dinner with a river view — there are plenty of Thai, Japanese, and rooftop-leaning spots to choose from. Practical tip: the free shuttle boat from Saphan Taksin runs frequently until late evening; rides are short and scenic, and far less hassle than crossing town by taxi at rush hour.
