About
On quiet Boriphat Road in Sam Yot, Heiwa Kissa channels the calm of a classic Japanese kissaten. Step inside and the city noise drops a notch: warm wood, soft light, the hush of beans being ground and water poured in slow circles. It’s an easy hop from Khao San by tuk-tuk, or a short walk from MRT Sam Yot (Exit 1), and a welcome pause between temple stops.
Coffee is the point, brewed with patient, old-school Japanese techniques that favor smooth, low-acid cups. Ask for a slow pour and watch it happen, then pair it with their silky purin (Japanese pudding) — the dessert regulars rave about. Portions are modest, flavors are clean, and nothing here rushes you out the door.
Weekdays are the move if you want a quiet table; weekends can fill by late morning. Doors open 10am, closing at 6pm Tuesday–Friday and 7pm on Saturday–Sunday (closed Monday). If you’re driving, park at Wat Phra Phiren and stroll over. Call ahead if you’re timing a coffee before Sam Yot’s museums or Chinatown just down the road.
