About

By day, Freebird Paddle Co. gets you out on Railay’s glassy water; by night, they switch on the glow. Their signature Sunset Starlight tour uses LED-lit clear SUPs and glass-bottom kayaks to light up the reef while the stars come out overhead and the limestone cliffs turn silhouette black. On darker nights you’ll often catch the bioluminescent plankton sparking beneath your paddle — a proper “only-in-Railay” moment with friendly guides who keep it safe and fun. If you’d rather keep it mellow, rent a board on Railay West and cruise the bay (200–300 THB per hour), or book a beginner lesson to get your balance sorted. Clear kayaks are a solid option if you’d prefer to sit, and they also run SUP yoga and casual daytime paddles to Phra Nang when conditions are right. First-timers are welcome; the kit is stable and the team knows these waters well. You’ll find their small shop on Railay Walking Street, between Railay West and Railay East — an easy landmark if you’re already wandering for dinner. Tours generally roll around sunset (start times shift with seasons and tides, roughly 5:30–8:30pm) and wrap up by about 9pm. Book ahead for the night tour in high season, and aim for the days around the new moon for the best natural glow. Getting here is by longtail boat only: from Krabi Town’s Chao Fah Pier you’ll pay about 150 THB per person, with typical departures at 9:30am, 11:30am, 2pm and 5pm (last verified Mar 2026).
