Foodland Supermarket

Bangkok’s 24/7 supermarket with the cult Took Lae Dee diner—think pad krapao, jok, and American breakfasts at 3am. Closest to Khao San: Patpong Soi 2 and Sukhumvit Soi 16/Soi 5. Fair prices, real butchers, and imported snacks when cravings hit.

About

Bangkok’s night-owl lifeline. Foodland is the 24/7 supermarket locals actually use, with proper butchers, a decent bakery, and shelves that swing from fresh produce to imported snacks you’ve been craving since the islands. It’s clean, efficient, and—crucially—always open when everywhere else shutters. What regulars know is the stainless-steel counter tucked inside: Took Lae Dee, the cult diner where cooks bang out Thai staples and an old-school American breakfast at all hours. Slide onto a stool for a pad krapao with a fried egg, a hot bowl of jok (rice porridge), or a fried-rice-and-coffee situation that hits like magic at 3am. It’s fast, budget-friendly, and unfussy in the best way. From Khao San, the handiest branches are in Silom (Patpong Soi 2) and Sukhumvit (Soi 16 near Asok, and Soi 5 near Nana). Figure 15–25 minutes by Grab or taxi off‑peak; BTS Sala Daeng, Asok, or Nana work if you’re coming from elsewhere. Most branches run 24 hours, so it’s the move after a late bar close or before an early flight (last checked March 2026).
