The ticket counter sits at Phra Arthit Pier (N13), a 10-minute walk from Khao San Road along Phra Athit. Staff sell single rides and day passes for the Chao Phraya Tourist Boat, with clear signage for routes and departure times. Boats run frequently through the day, and the pier has shaded seating while you wait. Grab a one-way ticket (around 60 THB) if you’re hopping to Wat Pho or Tha Maharaj for lunch, or go for the unlimited day pass (about 200 THB) if you plan to hit the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, and ICONSIAM in one sweep. Mornings are calm and quick for temple runs; late afternoon gives you golden light and breezy rides as the river cools. Bring small bills, and keep your ticket handy for easy pier transfers. Practical tip: Phra Arthit Pier is the closest pier to Khao San. From here, the hop-on hop-off blue-flag boats are the most straightforward for first-timers, but the regular express boats are cheaper if you know your stop. Either way, buying at the booth is faster than figuring it out on board.
