A calm, design-forward escape on the river, the Bank of Thailand Learning Center sits on Samsen Road beneath Rama VIII Bridge, reborn from the old banknote printing works. Inside you’ll find a handsome, glass-lined library with sweeping Chao Phraya views, soft lighting, and plenty of power outlets. It’s one of the best free places in the old town to read, study, or get work done in cool AC. Beyond the stacks, interactive exhibits unpack Thailand’s money story — from ancient trade to modern central banking and digital payments — with clear English explanations and helpful staff. It’s engaging for adults and kids alike, and you can easily spend an hour or two wandering the galleries before grabbing a coffee at the ground-floor café. Practicalities: it’s a short ride or about a 15‑minute walk from Khao San up Samsen Road toward Rama VIII Bridge. Open Tuesday–Sunday, 9:30am–8pm (free entry; hours last verified Aug 2026). Go late afternoon to catch golden light over the river through those floor‑to‑ceiling windows.
