Baan Manee BKK

A 118‑year‑old riverside house turned boutique stay and café. Sunset terrace, a small bar and a fire pit on the Chao Phraya. Ten minutes across from Khao San—come for proper coffee by day, drinks after dark, and quiet sleep away from the noise.

About

A 118‑year‑old riverside home reborn as a tiny boutique stay and café, Baan Manee BKK is the kind of place you stumble on and instantly want to linger. Follow the lane through Wat Daowaduengsaram’s old community and you’ll find a teak-and-terracotta house opening onto the Chao Phraya. Mornings are mellow with proper coffee and soft light on the water; by late afternoon the river breeze kicks in and the terrace becomes the spot for sunset, a drink from the small bar, and conversations around the fire pit as boats slide past the Rama VIII Bridge. Inside, original timber, patterned tiles, and considered Thai details set an intimate tone. There are only a handful of rooms upstairs, so it feels more like staying with tasteful friends than a hotel. Expect quiet nights away from Khao San’s chaos and slow, easy starts—best enjoyed with a latte on the deck or a slow stroll along the river. Practical: it’s on the Thonburi side in Bang Phlat, about 10 minutes by taxi from Khao San Road. Tell your driver “Wat Daowaduengsaram” and walk to the river end. Come early for coffee and photos; swing back at golden hour for that breezy terrace and a nightcap.
