Baan Chao Phraya Art Gallery
Restored Phra Athit mansion turned gallery showing rotating Thai art — calm, air‑con rooms, free entry, and 10am–6pm hours Tue–Sun. Steps from Phra Sumen Fort and Phra Arthit Pier — an easy culture fix near Khao San.
About
A restored riverside mansion on Phra Athit Road, Baan Chao Phraya Art Gallery is an easy culture stop a few minutes from Khao San. Step through the gate and you’re in cool, quiet rooms showing rotating Thai art — painting, photography, sculpture — often tied to projects backed by PTT and local universities. It’s small, focused, and calm, the kind of place you can actually look without being rushed.
The setting does a lot of the talking: high ceilings, bright galleries, and a heritage house that still feels lived-in. Exhibitions change through the year, so you might catch award-winner showcases one month and emerging-artist work the next. When you’re done, wander a minute to Santi Chai Prakan Park and Phra Sumen Fort for river breeze and sunset.
Practical bits: it’s at 49 Phra Athit Road, a 10-minute walk from Khao San. Open 10am–6pm Tuesday to Sunday; closed Monday. Entry is free, which makes it an easy add between temples, coffee on Phra Athit, and a ferry hop at Phra Arthit Pier. Details last checked March 2026.
