Best Late-Night Bars on Sukhumvit for After-Dinner Drinks and Last Orders
Our insider’s guide to Sukhumvit late-night bars—where to go after dinner, what to expect after midnight, prices, hours, dress codes, and easy bar-hopping tips.
We step off the BTS at Nana and the night hits us like a warm wave—grills charring moo ping, a moto taxi popping its clutch, neon syruping the soi. Dinner was hours ago; now it’s time to hunt Sukhumvit late night bars where the lights are low, the ice is clattering, and last orders don’t mean last call.

What Sukhumvit Feels Like After Midnight
The music changes after 12. On Soi 11 the bass turns fatter—R&B in one room, big-room house next door—while a rooftop a few doors up murmurs along with skyline breezes. Thonglor glows soft gold, cocktails perfumed with pandan and jasmine; Ekkamai stretches out with craft lagers and vintage lounges. Closer to Nana, beer bars spill onto the pavement, bar stools spinning toward the passing tuk-tuks and the endless sanuk.
The late-night crowd is a mash-up: Thai friends on a date-night circuit, expats clocking out of the office late, farang who survived a Khao San Road pregame and took the BTS east, and solo travelers who just want one more cold Leo before crashing. Drinks run the gamut—cold Singha for approx. 120–180 THB, proper cocktails for approx. 280–420 THB, highballs and pisco sours on rooftops for approx. 320–480 THB, and the occasional tequila shot that seems like a good idea until 8 a.m.
Our Curated List of Sukhumvit Late Night Bars by Area
We’re keeping this focused on where you can still order after midnight, not just sunset spritzes. Hours shift with holidays and police checks, so think ranges, not promises.
Nana / Soi 11: Loud, Lively, and Walkable Between Spots
- Havana Social (Soi 11 back lane): A rum-forward speakeasy hidden behind a vintage phone booth. Dark wood, Latin brass, and daiquiris built like a dream. Expect approx. 320–450 THB for cocktails; smart-casual feels right, but you can sneak in with clean sneakers. Often open until 1–2 a.m. on weekends.
- Above Eleven (Soi 11 rooftop): Pisco sours, Peruvian-Japanese bites, and a skyline that never quits. It’s the after-dinner glide before things get noisy. Cocktails approx. 320–480 THB; last orders often around 1 a.m. or a bit later on weekends.
- Levels (Soi 11): Multi-room lounge/club hybrid—one room for sing-along pop and R&B, another for EDM. Cover sometimes applies (approx. 200–400 THB with a drink). Great for groups and birthdays; often pushes until 2 a.m.
Best for: groups, big nights, bar-hopping within a 500-meter radius. BTS Nana (E3), exit 3, then a 5–10 minute walk. If we’re staying nearby, we pick a guesthouse off Soi 11 so we can wander home without haggling for a ride.
Asok / Sukhumvit 21–23: Easy Transit, Mixed Crowd, Good “One More?” Drinks
Asok is your pivot point—BTS meets MRT, so it’s perfect when we want a late drink and an easy ride home.
- Craft beer garden on Sukhumvit 23: Long communal tables, rotating taps, and a kitchen that keeps frying wings after midnight. Pints approx. 220–320 THB; usually open until 1 a.m. on weekends.
- Whiskey and cigar lounges: Quiet, leather-club vibes where you can sip a single malt for approx. 300–500 THB and talk at normal volume. Typically close around 1 a.m.
- Sports pubs (Asok/Nana fringe): When there’s a late Premier League kickoff, these spots stretch their hours. Expect bottled beers approx. 140–200 THB.
Best for: solo travelers who like a stool and a chat, anyone changing lines between BTS and MRT, low-drama drinks. BTS Asok (E4) or MRT Sukhumvit.
Phrom Phong / Soi 33–39: Izakayas, Wine, and Date-Night Cocktails
- Japanese izakayas off Soi 33/31: Yakitori smoke and highballs flowing until around 1 a.m. Plates of chicken skin skewers, edamame, and karaage for approx. 100–220 THB per dish; highballs approx. 160–240 THB.
- Small wine bars near EmQuartier: By-the-glass lists that don’t break the bank (approx. 260–420 THB) and late snacks. Usually close around 12:30–1 a.m.
- Hidden cocktail counters: Low-lit sanctuaries with a handful of seats and serious ice. Expect approx. 320–450 THB cocktails; reservations help on weekends.
Best for: dates, quieter catch-ups, anyone who likes to graze and sip. BTS Phrom Phong (E5), exits to EmQuartier/Emporium.
Thonglor (Soi 55) & Thonglor Sois 7–13: Cocktail Country and Stylish Late Nights
- Rabbit Hole (Thonglor Soi 7): A wood-paneled temple to technique where the menu shifts with the season—think coconut-washed rums and jasmine-forward gin drinks. Approx. 340–480 THB; often open until 1 a.m.
- Octave Rooftop (Sukhumvit 57): 360-degree views and a three-level rooftop stack. If you’ve got friends visiting, it delivers the Bangkok skyline money shot. Cocktails approx. 320–520 THB; late on weekends, often to 1–2 a.m.
- Tichuca Rooftop Bar (Thonglor): A bamboo-and-vine fantasy that feels like a tropical treehouse. Expect queues after 10 p.m. on weekends; cocktails approx. 320–480 THB; last orders around 1–2 a.m.
Best for: date nights, cocktail nerds, stylish squads. BTS Thong Lo (E6), then moto-taxi (approx. 20–40 THB) or a 10–15 minute walk.
Ekkamai (Soi 63): Vintage Lounges, Gin Temples, and Laid-Back Lagers
- Tuba (Ekkamai 21): A sprawling vintage-furniture bar with lampshades that look like they remember the ‘80s. Big beers approx. 140–220 THB, hearty Thai-Western plates, music loud but not shouty. Often until 1 a.m.
- Iron Balls Distillery Bar (near Ekkamai): Gin-forward, candlelit, and intimate. Perfect for a late martini (approx. 360–480 THB). Last pour usually around 1 a.m.
- Live-leaning beer bars on Ekkamai: Outdoor tables, craft taps, and the occasional DJ. Pints approx. 220–320 THB; hours stretch on Fridays/Saturdays.
Best for: couples who want conversation, small groups, anyone allergic to velvet ropes. BTS Ekkamai (E7), easy in and out.
Phra Khanong & On Nut: Casual, Cheaper, and Open-Air
- W District (Phra Khanong): Open-air food court meets beer garden. Cheap drinks, lots of snacks, and a laid-back crowd. Bottled beers approx. 120–180 THB; closes closer to midnight on weekdays, later on weekends.
- Neighborhood pubs around On Nut: Local expat hangouts with darts, pool, and no-frills pours. Pints approx. 140–220 THB; often open until 12:30–1 a.m.
Best for: budget nights, easygoing meet-ups, and farang who live nearby. BTS Phra Khanong (E8) or BTS On Nut (E9).

The Atmosphere: Music, Drinks, and Crowd After Midnight
- Music: Soi 11 leans EDM/hip-hop; Thonglor is nu-disco, house, and soulful edits; Ekkamai floats between indie DJs and mellow pop; Nana beer bars go classic rock sing-alongs. If you hear “Mr. Brightside,” you’re still in Bangkok—it’s fine.
- Drinks: Late night means fewer promos and more signatures. Expect cocktails around 320–480 THB and bottled beers around 120–180 THB. Buckets happen, but we keep those for the islands.
- Crowd: Thursday is the new Friday. Weeknights after 12:30 a.m. feel friendlier and less slammed; weekends spike from 10:30 p.m.–1:30 a.m. Thonglor dresses up; Nana is come-as-you-are.
- Vibe: Rooftops calm down after midnight—great for last-look photos. Soi bars ramp up until the final hour, then kick you out with a wai and a smile.
Practical Details: Hours, Cover, Dress Codes, and Money
- Opening hours: Many bars run 5 p.m.–1 a.m. Rooftops often last call around 1 a.m.; lounges and big Soi 11 rooms can stretch to 2 a.m. (Fri/Sat). Police checks can truncate nights—no drama, just finish up.
- Cover charges: Casual bars rarely charge. Clubby rooms and some lounges may add a cover after 10–11 p.m. (approx. 200–400 THB, usually with one drink).
- Dress code: Rooftops and cocktail bars prefer smart-casual; closed shoes beat flip-flops. Soi bars and beer gardens are relaxed—shorts are fine.
- ID checks: Carry a physical ID (passport photo page or a clear photocopy). Age checks happen.
- Payment: Cards widely accepted in rooftops and cocktail bars; smaller bars favor cash. Keep small bills for moto taxis and late-night skewers.
How to Bar-Hop Sukhumvit Without Losing the Plot
- String the BTS: Start Phrom Phong for izakayas, hop to Thong Lo for two cocktails, finish on Soi 11 for volume. Trains run until around midnight; after that it’s taxis or Grab.
- Last train reality: Aim for your last BTS by 11:45 p.m. If you miss it, meter taxi from Soi 11 to Thonglor runs approx. 80–150 THB late-night depending on traffic; Nana to Khao San is more like approx. 150–250 THB.
- Taxis and tuk-tuks: Ask for the meter (miita) with a smile. Tuk-tuks are fun but overcharge late—agree a price first (short hops approx. 80–150 THB).
- Motorcycle taxis: Fast for short jumps between sois (approx. 20–60 THB). Helmets on, bags zipped.
- Safety: Keep your drink in sight, pace your rounds with water (hello, 7-Eleven blast of AC), and stay on lit sois. If a deal sounds too good, it probably is.
- Late-night eats: Soi 38 (Thonglor) still throws down noodles after midnight; Soi 11 side-carts sling pad kra pao and moo ping. Expect street eats approx. 40–120 THB.
For Different Night Owls: Who’s Each Spot Best For?
- Havana Social (Soi 11): Date nights, rum lovers, small groups who want atmosphere over decibels.
- Above Eleven (Soi 11): Out-of-towners and skyline chasers; good for a first or final drink.
- Levels (Soi 11): Groups, birthdays, anyone who wants a dance floor without a mega-club.
- Craft beer garden (Sukhumvit 23): Solo travelers and beer geeks who like to chat at the tap.
- Izakayas (Soi 33 area): Night owls who graze—order three small plates and a highball and repeat.
- Rabbit Hole (Thonglor Soi 7): Cocktail nerds who care about ice, balance, and bar seats.
- Octave Rooftop (Sukhumvit 57): Couples, visiting friends, photographers chasing that 360-degree glow.
- Tichuca (Thonglor): Vibes-first groups who don’t mind a line for a leafy scene.
- Tuba (Ekkamai): Casual crews who want music they can talk over and a shareable menu.
- Iron Balls (Ekkamai): Gin fans and nightcap traditionalists.
- W District (Phra Khanong): Budget-friendly hangs, mixed groups, easy pre- or post-game.
Know Before You Go
- Noise laws ebb and flow. If the lights pop up early, it’s not you—it’s Bangkok being Bangkok.
- Rainy season (May–Oct) can soak rooftops. Check the forecast or keep a soi backup.
- On big Buddhist holidays, alcohol sales can pause or hours shift. Plan a quiet nightcap at your hotel bar.
- Accommodation strategy: If we’re planning a Soi 11-heavy night, we book a place within walking distance so we can skip taxis at 2 a.m. For cocktail-hopping in Thonglor/Ekkamai, staying near BTS Thong Lo or Ekkamai keeps rides short and cheap.
Getting There: BTS, MRT, and Late Rides
- Nana / Soi 11: BTS Nana (E3). From the station to mid-Soi 11 is a 5–10 minute stroll. Moto taxis line Sukhumvit if you’re hopping to another bar.
- Asok / Sukhumvit 23: BTS Asok (E4) or MRT Sukhumvit. Both exits spill you into bar territory quickly.
- Phrom Phong: BTS Phrom Phong (E5), then short walks into Soi 33/31 for izakayas and lounges.
- Thonglor: BTS Thong Lo (E6). Many bars sit deeper on Soi 55—grab a moto taxi.
- Ekkamai: BTS Ekkamai (E7). Walkable to Soi 63 bars; taxis are easy for late-night rides home.
- Phra Khanong / On Nut: BTS Phra Khanong (E8) or On Nut (E9). W District is steps from Phra Khanong.
When friends message, “We landed late—where do we go?”, we start at a rooftop for a slow pour, slide down to Soi 11 when the bass wakes up, and end on a quiet stool in Ekkamai for a last, cold beer. Meet us under the neon; the night’s still young.
