Taste of Thailand
Challenge 2005
Can
Farang (westerners) ever be Thai? Billed as Thailand’s
funniest cross cultural game show – The Singha Taste of Thailand Challenge, hosted by Worathep
na Banglampu, hits the road
this November and December in search of the answer.

The
Challenge The
Singha Taste of Thailand Challenge is a hilarious game show that puts tourists
and foreign residents in the Kingdom (in a most gentle way) through a series of
typically Thai activities such as speaking, dancing, eating, drinking and even
boxing like Thais. The aim is to find the Farang kon
Thai or person most likely to have the best time in the Land of Smiles.
And smiles are what this energetic event is all about as the multi-cultural audience
are invited to play judge and jury. Live
Music T-Bone: Top Thai Reggae/Ska
Combo recently back from a skanking debut at Glastonbury
Festival in the UK. Futon: Electro Kuture
Klash from these MTV Darlings, sparking from their own European
and Japanese tour. Shazam: Eclectic electric violin from Steve Cipollone
with his flamboyant dancing troupe – they’ll get your feet tapping. flow: Good old rock – the boys are hot off
their whirlwind tour of their mates bars in Bangkok. DJ
Joeki: Unadulterated hedonism for the City of Angels. Galactic
Soul: The gifted ear of deep
funky tech house. Singha

Organiser: Worathep
na Banglampu (Good ol' Bob) Host
of the Singha Taste of Thailand Challenge event, Worathep na Banglampu (the farang formally
known as Bobby McBlain) was one of the founders of FARANG Magazine, and
originally devised the challenge as a fun way to celebrate the magazine’s first
anniversary back in 2002. With FARANG Magazine now re-launching as Untamed
Travel, Worathep decided to repackage the event and take the show on the road
with his new company Creative Exchange. “Even
though it has been a difficult year for Thailand
the Thai spirit and sense of sanook has helped
heal much of the hardship and the welcome is warmer than ever. A few friends and
I thought it would be sanook to take a 10-Wheel
truck full of stage, light and sound gear round to visit our friends old and new
around the country,” said Worathep. “Thanks to the kind support of Boonrawd Trading
we will be able to have a fun with our buddies in Pattaya, Phuket and Samui as
well as our homeboys in Bangkok and show the world
through our international and local media partners that Thailand is always
a pretty cool place to visit,” he added. The
Sponsor “As
one of the leading Thai brands, Boonrawd is always happy to support activities
that benefit our country,” said Amornpon Lerdhirunpaiboon,
marketing executive at Boonrawd Trading. “Having worked with Worathep on previous
events we were pleased when he approached us with his concept for this tour. The
Singha Taste of Thailand Challenge brings both Thais and visitors to Thailand together
in a fun and imaginative way that also helps to promote tourism,” he added. The
Media In
addition to the live performances, Capital TV will be filming the events and broadcasting
an edited version on their Travel Asia & Beyond show that airs in over 60
countries via the Star TV network. Respect also goes to the crew at Guru Magazine
and the guys upstairs at The Bangkok Post for supporting the event and also Metro
Magazine, Samui Channel and Virgin Radio for allowing the organisers to air their
sauciest radio ad yet :) For
