Hello Khaosanroad.com team,
First of all, your website is great! I think
it's very useful for foreigners and also interesting
for locals like me. Thanks for making it.
Although I'm sure you already know about it,
I just have to bring something to your attention
and hopefully to the attention of every traveller
who visits your website. It's about the Full
Moon parties on Koh Pha-ngan. You'll see some
photos attached with this e-mail (I've asked
for a permission to use these photos from the
owner).
We Thais know that a lot of travellers come
to Thailand especially for the full moon parties
on Koh Pha-ngan. I don't want to ramble on about
how some Thais despise these parties, because
once we start others will talk about how they
bring money to the locals on the island and
that Thailand needs it to sustain its tourism,
etc. Clearly, this is NOT an argument anyone
can win. So I just want to pass on this message
to the travellers who go to the Full Moon parties.
We recognize that you are here on holiday and
here to enjoy yourselves, but please don't forget
about the environment. While your enjoying yourself,
try to do something to protect our land - don't
leave your rubbish on the beach.
Imagine if visitors came to a beautiful place
in your country and left it full of rubbish
- how would you feel? Please, give something
back to the land where you had fun. Don't assume
that just bringing money to Thailand is enough.
Respect our land and keep it clean, just as
you would if it were your own land.
Well, thanks again for reading. If you don't
think my e-mail is appropriate to be on your
website, it's alright. Like I said, I just had
to write:-).
Cheers!

" The problem is that these partygoers
do the same ecological damage in their own countries.
They are a product of a self oscessed youth
culture where social responsibility is anathema.
The problem will not be solved with goodwill
but may be addressed with good planning and
perhaps a surcharge for the mess to be cleared
up.
Good luck"
