PROJECT DESCRIPTION/ BACKGROUND
Founded in 2003,
Organizing over ten English
camps, we have learned and realized that many students still lack of motivation
to learn more English. And we believe that having students study English
with English speaking people around the world would be another great way to help
student improve their English and finally they will learn how English is important
to them. So, the idea of the Learn2Give project has been released!
Learn2Give is a non-profit teaching project which welcomes volunteers all
over the world to teach English at rural school in the
To help search for potential volunteers across
the globe to participate in this project, the English Language Club has been in cooperation
with three great cultural exchange websites, Helpx.net, Couchsurfing.net and Hostpitalityclub.org.
What we do is contact host schools for Learn2Give volunteers and host school will
be willing to provide accommodation and food for volunteers in return. Before
teaching at school, our volunteer will be given an introduction activity run by
English Language Club staff for five days.
OBJECTIVES:
Þ To give an opportunity to volunteers
from different parts of the world to immense into a real Thai experience – not
just a tourist-experience!
Þ To have volunteers learn how to give
and share things to people from another cultures
Þ To give rural Thai students a chance to
learn English with English speaking people from another country
Þ To inspire students to learn more
English at the present time and the future
Þ To broaden students and teachers’
perspective toward intercultural understanding

To have school teachers improved their
English communication skill
Þ To have university students as project
coordinators learn how to deal with international matters
Þ To create a harmony by giving and
sharing to others and to the world!
QUALIFICATIONS (for volunteers):
Þ Good English speaking person
Þ Must be eighteen years old or over
Þ Have a high school education or college
degree
Þ Be open-minded, flexible and hard-working
Þ Eager to learn about other culture
Þ Have
self-motivation and inspire students to have a good attitude toward studying English
Þ
Willing to work and enjoy helping rural children and approachable
Þ Able to live in local community
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Tentative):
Þ
Teach or assist teachers in English classes 3-4 hours a day from
Monday to
Friday at primary school/high school
Þ
Teach with emphasis on communication skill
Þ Create fun and practical method games
and songs
Þ Help our club run English camps on
some weekends
*** Teaching hours can be flexible.
QUALIFICATION (for schools):
Þ Primary school or highschool in Ubon Ratchathani and nearby
Þ Be able to provide accommodation and
food for volunteers
Þ Have one or two teacher coordinators
who can communicate in English
Þ Teachers at school must have intercultural
understanding
CONDITIONS
Since we are a non-profit organization run by a group of university student, a volunteer must be responsible for his/her own travel expenses, visa arrangement and travel insurance. We help contact host schools and run activities regarding to the project only.
