Koh Tao on steroids…
A new site on Koh
Tao hit the World Wide thingymajig recently. Nicely
laid out, it's got the full SP on accommodation (budget
to exclusive), plenty of info about Koh Tao (maps, history,
etc.), activities on the island (diving, spas, Thai Boxing,
etc.), where to get fed and watered, night clubs... the
works actually! Check it out...
Wake-a-Lot…
Lulu Seegers
writes: "Hello khaosanroad, I have been at the coolest
place in thailand last season, it is a watersportplace
90 minutes south of bangkok, they just opened and i had
a blast of my life so i would like to boost these guys
and think they should be recommended on khaosanroad. the
place is called Wake-a-lot.
This place is in an original Thai atmosphere and only
30 minutes from the beach or 45 to Pattaya. the lake is
amazing and the little resort outstanding, they have so
much more stuff to do than wakeboarding and waterski like
trampoline, snooker, ping pong, climbing and the biggest
treehouse i have ever seen in Thailand. It would be great
if you could write something about these guys they do
a great job. check it out. Thanks lulu from Germany."
I think you did a good job yourself - so why reinvent
the wheel? :)

"The smell of petrol fills the air,
the sound of revving engines mixing with the rock music
that filters out from the speakers. Tension mounts as
I glance at my opponent and catch his steely stare. A
large bet has been placed on the outcome of this race,
so the stakes are high. Also, a large group of friends
have come to watch, so I am determined not to lose."

The Silk Road…
The Silk
Road is an ancient network of caravan trails
across the snow-capped mountains and forbidding deserts
of Central Asia.
For more than a millennium this East-West artery provided
the conduit for commercial as well as cultural exchange
between China and the West. It not only
carried silk, which could fetch its weight in gold, and
other exotic goods to the Roman and Byzantine empires,
but was instrumental in the eastward expansion of Buddhism.

It's
sad to say, but many a traveler on KSR never actually
makes it further than the police station of an evening.
KhaoSanRoad.com had to intervene. We took a look around
to find something worth getting off the strip for - and
we came up with RCA... Click here to find out more

Earth from Above…

This is the last month of an exhibition
of Yann
Arthus Bertrand’s aerial photographs. The exhibition,
entitled, EARTH FROM ABOVE: AN AERIAL PORTRAIT OF OUR
PLANET, started 3 June and finishes 9 September 2008.
It’s a great location – outdoors at the Zen Outdoor Arena
and Amphitheater Zone, Central
World, central Bangkok. It’s great looking at these
images outdoors because you are as vulnerable to the climate
as the earth itself. Sweating to the point of death or
being swamped by rain (or both!) really brings home the
environmental message without a slogan in sight. Admission
is Monday to Thursday: 10.00 – 22.00 and Friday to Sunday:
10.00 – 23.00. There’s no charge. 120 million people have
seen these photographs – you could be one. Make a morning
or afternoon of it – visit the Erawan
Shrine first (opposite), then do some shopping, and
then catch the exhibition.
