This beautiful region of Laos is a great place to explore for those with a strong sense of adventure and eye for beauty. Although you won’t find tourist towns like those in the north of the country, those who take the time to explore southern Laos will find an impressive number of pretty islands, dense jungle and magnificent mountains.

This is where you will find the Bolaven Plateau, the stunningly pretty region that spans three provinces and is full of waterfalls, natural hot springs, rivers and traditional villages to explore.

The Four Thousands Islands lie at the very southern tip of the country, and a boat trip through this area is an unforgettable experience. Those with time and patience will also spot the enchanting Kratie River dolphins and a number of other animals.

Cambodia is located right next to parts of southern Laos and you will find some good examples of Khmer temples here as well as the unique Laos style, with long, sloping roves and tall while stupas.

This is the perfect place to find a spot beside the river, grab a beer and watch the sunset. Southern Thailand is a great place for relaxing and unwinding. Take the time to step off the tourist trail for a while and you will find a warm welcome, friendly people and stunning scenery.
