Being a Buddhist country, many Thais have a tendency towards vegetarianism. There are a number of annual festivals both in the Thai and ethnic Chinese calendars that require people to be vegetarian for various amounts of time, and as a result, Thailand (especially Khao San Road in Bangkok) has some excellent vegetarian restaurants. Absolutely classic – you’d be amazed why anyone eats meat at all! |
