Shambara is a boutique hostel and pretty good it is too! It's a big, lovely Thai style house which has been converted into a guesthouse. A small number of rooms offer a genuine 'family' experience. Set in a nice garden, the downstairs restaurant offers a range of local cuisine. The rooms are nice - shiny gold bed covers! They have about 9 rooms and each one has been given a name and a concept - Khun (Crown Flower), Mai Li (Jasmine), etc. You have to have a look at the rooms to decide which concept you want, but they are basically single with fan up to double/twin with air-conditioning. Prices range between 250 and 500 Baht. Located between VS Guesthouse and Ham Guesthouse at the 'Burger King' end of Khao San - you will see a small road going behind the shops on the left. It is down there.
